The Scioto County Sheriffs Office is actively accepting applications for Deputy Sheriff assigned to the Patrol Division.
In order to qualify, you:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a current (up to date) Ohio Peace Officer Certification
Must be able to pass a stringent criminal background check to include (CVSA-Computerized Voice Stress Analyzer and/or Polygraph Test)
Must possess a Valid Ohio Driver's License
Must be available to work 40 flexible hours per week along with unpredictable overtime hours
Must submit to and pass a Drug Screen Test prior to employment.
Under the direction of the Sheriff, Chief Deputy, Captain and/or Sergeant, This Law Enforcement position is primarily responsible for providing service and protection to the community and enforcing the laws of the State of Ohio. This position is responsible for serving the needs of the public on behalf of Sheriff David Thoroughman. You will be the first point of contact with the citizens in the community. Some of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to responding to and conducting thorough investigations concerning citizen complaints, completing appropriate documentation, filing necessary criminal charges, taking suspects into custody, collecting and preserving evidence, testifying in court and serving court notices.
The Scioto County Sheriffs Office operates under a collective bargaining agreement
Benefits include:
Starting pay of $19.43/hour as of January, 2021
Step 1: 0 - 6 months $19.43
Step 2: 7 - 12 months $20.20
Step 3: 13 - 48 months $21.65
Step 4: 49 - 72 months $22.31
Step 5: 73 - 96 months $23.23
Step 6: 97 + months $24.05
