Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman stated that the 911 communication center received a call on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 3:17 pm from a resident stating that a male had broken into her home. The caller advised that her son was inside the home trying to stop the suspect.
Sheriff Thoroughman stated that deputies and detectives responded and were on scene within minutes. Detectives learned that the male had stolen items and left the scene on foot.
Detectives were able to quickly locate and detain the suspect. The stolen items were located hidden in the area behind an apartment complex.
Sheriff Thoroughman stated that the quick arrest was the result of Detective Sgt. Jodi Conkel, Detective John Cart, and Deputies Craig Ashley and Alicia Underwood’s great work.
Arrested was Jazmine Allen, age 33, of Wheelersburg.
Allen has been charged with Burglary, a felony of the 2nd degree, and one count of Theft, a misdemeanor of the 1st degree. Allen is being held on a $76,000.00 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, December 2 , 2024.
Detectives received information that this suspect has broken into several vehicles and has attempted to break into others in the area of Kinker Drive and Dogwood Ridge. Anyone that may be a victim is encouraged to call in to file a report.
Sheriff Thoroughman stated that this is still an ongoing investigation that will result in more charges being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury on a later date.
